John Cherry

John Caldwell Cherry, Age 75, of Texarkana, AR, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Hospice of Texarkana surrounded by his family and close friends. Mr. Cherry was born September 9, 1941 in Texarkana, TX. He served in the United States Army. He was the owner of Greer's Auto Supply, and retired from Roger's Marine. He was a member of Hickory Street Baptist Church for 52 years where he had served as a Trustee, Deacon, and Sunday School Teacher. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Simmons Cherry; daughter, Karen Cherry McDowell of Texarkana, AR; daughter, Susan Cherry Brown of Texarkana, TX; son-in-law, Allen McDowell of Texarkana, AR; one sister, Marvene Lewis of Nash, TX; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Shenna and Gary Cherry and Wanda and Mike Cherry both of Texarkana, AR; five grandchildren, Taylor Brown, Ryann Brown, Jacob Brown, Cheston McDowell, and Connor McDowell; and one great-grandson, Maddox Thompson. He was preceded in death by his brother, Chester Cherry and his parents, Chester and Dorothy Cherry. Visitation will be on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas. Grave side will be on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 10:00 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
