After a brief illness, Linda Falks Garvey died peacefully on August 27, 2017, surrounded by her family. Linda was born October 20, 1942 at Ft. Benning near Columbus, Georgia. Her parents were Jack Bansley Falks and Billie Thruen Falks. Jack was a career army officer and they lived in Paris, France for several years, where he was stationed following World War II. Shortly after returning to the U.S. she along with her mother and brother moved to Texarkana, Texas. She attended Texas High school where she met her future husband, John Garvey. Linda passed just a few days shy of their 54th wedding anniversary. She attended Texarkana College and then worked in Houston for two years before marrying John. Linda was one of the nicest and kindest people you could ever meet. Her favorite activity was helping a friend do just about anything. She was constantly helping people organize one task or another. She was a founding member of Our Children's Store which operated in Northpark Center for several years and benefited fourteen Children's charities. She and her husband traveled extensively. Unfortunately, she suffered a debilitating stroke which greatly limited her over the last five years of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Steve and her granddaughter Helen Rust. She is survived by her husband John, her son John Garvey Jr. and his wife Chandra, her daughter Jennifer Rust and her husband Gary and the five lights of her life, her grandchildren Caroline Garvey, Lindsey Garvey, Allison Garvey, Cate Rust and Julie Rust. She is also survived by several cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to East-West Ministries, the Dallas Food Bank, or the charity of your choice. A memorial service to celebrate Linda's life will be held on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 11:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
