Jeff Blackmon "JB" Sams, Jr. 97, of Doddridge, AR, passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Sams was born March 19, 1922, to Jeff and Willie Sams. He was preceded in death by his wife, Veda, his parents, his siblings, Juana Harrington, Buron Sams, Billie Sams, Irene Swinney, and Kenneth Sams. He is survived by children, Ronald (Nancy) Sams and Phyllis (Randy) Mikkelsen, grandchildren, Miranda (John) Baugh, Mike Mikkelsen, and Chris (Tina) Mikkelsen, six great-grandchildren, Jeb Baugh, Tripp Baugh, Josie Mikkelsen, Vida Mikkelsen, Madden Mikkelsen and Harper Baugh, sister-in-law, Melba Sams, and a number of nieces and nephews. JB was full of love and laughter, always joking and telling stories from his past. He was easy to love and a joy to be around. His most treasured moments were spent with his family, and they all loved him dearly. He was the last survivor of six children. He served in WW2 in New Guinea and the Philippines. He married Veda Adcock in Canadian, Texas. He worked as a mechanical supervisor for Morrison-Knutson and traveled throughout the United States until he retired in 1984. His family always traveled with him and home was wherever they were. He returned to Doddridge after retirement. He loved to spend time outside, gardening and working around his place. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Olive Branch Methodist Church, under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service with Bro. Walter Burnett officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 2, 2019 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Olive Branch Methodist Church. Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
