Nicholas Smith

De QUEEN, Ark.—Nicholas James Smith, 86, of Winthrop, Ark., died Saturday, March 30, 2019, in Texarkana. Mr. Smith was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Winthrop. He was a retired Arkansas Forestry Commission pilot, member of King Ryder Church of Christ and an Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Patricia Griggs Smith; one daughter and son-in-law, Sheri Lynn and Will Roberts of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Frederick Smith of Winthrop; one sister, Martha June Markwalter of Texarkana; two grandsons and one granddaughter-in-law, William Nicholas Roberts and Cory Lane and Cady Roberts; one great-granddaughter, Caroline Leigh Roberts; and a number of nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at King Ryder Church of Christ with James McRae officiating. Burial will be in Campground Cemetery under direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home.
