Nada Laverne Purifoy, 87, of Genoa, Arkansas, formerly of Hooks, Texas passed away April 26, 2020. She was born to Willie and Ollie Neathery Raulston in Clarksville, Texas on January 15, 1933. Mrs. Purifoy attended Hooks United Methodist Church and then Holly Springs United Methodist Church upon moving to Genoa. She was a member of the National Audubon Society, and enjoyed many programs and activities involving nature with her family and friends. Laverne was an accomplished seamstress; her beautiful hand work is evidenced by the many quilts, crocheted blankets, articles of clothing, and precious, cloth animals she lovingly hand-stitched. Gardening and growing flowers were also a passion; she loved African Violets, Daylilies, and Iris just to name a few of her favorites. Laverne took much delight in her grandson, Joshua and his wife, Jennifer. Everywhere in her home were photos of memories they shared throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and a sister. Mrs. Laverne leaves behind her husband of 67 years, Ben B. Purifoy, Jr.; a daughter, Teresa "Terri" Addington and companion Charles Holbrook of Genoa, Arkansas; grandson, Joshua R. Addington and wife Jennifer L. Addington of Lantana, Texas; and his father Michael D. Addington of Texarkana, Arkansas. A private graveside service will be held Friday May 1, 2020 at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Purifoy will lie in state Thursday April 30, 2020 from 8am to 5pm at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Kings Highway, for anyone wishing to pay their last respects.
