Mr. William Manton Montgomery, age 94, resident of De Queen, passed from this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 in Dierks, Arkansas. He was the eighth of nine children born to Elmer Lee and Katie Mae Williamson Montgomery on April 23, 1925 in De Queen. Manton was drafted and served his country with the United States Army and married the love of his life, Catherine Griffin, on January 1, 1946. He was very involved in the timber industry, working as a Logger, Truck Farmer and Land Buyer, for many years. When he was able, he attended church at De Queen First Baptist Church and was a former member of Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in De Queen. He enjoyed fox, deer and coyote hunting, dancing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine Montgomery; his daughter, Judy Lynn Tomlinson; four brothers and four sisters. He is survived by one son, Ronnie Montgomery and wife Sheila of De Queen; four grandchildren, J. Mark Bigham and Susan of De Queen, Brian Montgomery of De Queen, Holly Rogers and Randy of De Queen, and Amy Mickle and Kalem of Rogers; four great-grandchildren, T.J. Bigham and Paige of De Queen, Spy Rogers of Pearcy, Candace Rogers of De Queen, and Chance Mickle of Rogers; a special niece, Diane Campbell of De Queen; as well as, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Services for Mr. Manton Montgomery will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, February 16, 2020 at the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Ida Cemetery, under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, De Queen. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M., Saturday, at the funeral home.
