WILMA ROWDEN

Wilma G. Rowden was born June 30, 1923. Wilma was the oldest child of the late Viola Jordan-Crossland and Manuel Crossland. She was a domestic worker and a caretaker outside of her home for many years. She was employed by Tex Inn of New Boston, Claire Duffer and many others. Wilma married Lamar Rowden on March 7, 1949. Wilma accepted Christ at an early age. She attended Burns Church of Christ in Hooks, Texas. Wilma departed this life on Friday, April 8, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter – Ola Faye Thompson, four brothers – Lewis Crossland, Morris Crossland, Bob Earl Crossland and Sam Crossland; two sisters - Georgia Mae Cooper and Betty Jean Johnson. Survivors include three sons – Bobby Rowden (Charlesetta), Darrell Rowden (Angela) and Billy Jo Rowden (Sharon); two daughters – Jackie Barber (James) and Janice Hooks (Utissue); three sisters - Annie Pearl Hooks, Mattie Joe Crossland and Dorothy Crossland; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren and great great great- grandchildren, as well as other relatives and friends. The funeral service under the direction of Haynes Mortuary, Inc will be Saturday, April 16th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in New Boston. Visitation will be at the mortuary Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. MASK ARE REQUIRED.
