Mary Patricia Berry passed from this life and into the arms of Jesus Thursday, August 4, 2022, surrounded by her precious daughters. Mary was born November 12, 1940 to Joseph and Mary Agnes Hughes in Houston, TX. Also known as Pat, Patsy, Mama, and Nana. Mary was a friend to everyone she met. She was generous and kind and took great joy in giving to others. If someone needed to be loved, Mary loved them. If a kid needed a grandma, she was their nana. She loved to fish, drink Dr. Pepper and was the queen of QVC shopping. Celebrating holidays and birthdays (except her own) were top priority. She had a way of making everyone feel special. Mary took pride in providing for her family. She, along with friend Mildred, helped to break the glass ceiling at International Paper for women. She was a hard worker and made many life-long friendships from her days at the mill. In the early 1990’s Mary and Marvin discovered the paradise of Lake Fork. This became their home away from home and a second family. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Mary Hughes, brothers Joseph Hughes and Michael Hughes, and beloved family members Monroe and Mary Bass. Mary is survived by her husband of 63 years, Marvin Gene Berry, sisters Judy Harper of San Marcos, TX and Joan Laird of Houston, TX, daughter Debbie Loven and husband Marshall of Red Hill, TX, daughter Cathy Berry Akritas of State College, PA, and son Marvin Berry II, of Queen City, TX.
