James Foster Barling

James Foster “Jimmy” Barling of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. He was 84. Jimmy was born May 24, 1938 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Foster Hayes and Wyola Montana Maddox Barling. He was a retired Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist for Red River Army Depot. Jimmy was a member of Tapp United Methodist Church where he was involved with the Methodist Men’s Group. He was active in his community and was a member of several organizations including, the New Boston Lion’s Club, the New Boston Genealogical Society, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. He was an avid hunter and lifetime member of the NRA. Jimmy was a loyal Aggie fan and active member of the New Boston class of 1956. He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Robert Barling; brother, Meredith “Tex” Barling; and a wife, Doris Barling. He is survived by his wife Dora Rumsey-Barling of De Kalb, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law, Kerry Scott and Mary Barling of Versailles, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Kayla Ann and Steve Harbour of New Boston, Texas; one brother, Mont Ian and Annette Barling of New Boston, Texas; one nephew, Ronnie Dale Ramsey of De Kalb, Texas; six grandchildren, Thomas Newton Barling and his wife, Priscilla, Rebecca Ann Barling, Kyle Matthew Martin and his wife, Samantha, Klay Thomas Martin and his wife, Whitney, Klint James Martin, and Sheldon Lewis Harbour and his wife, Ashley; six great grand children; and numerous other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with David Goodwin, Robby Bates, and Kerry Barling officiating. Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
