July 24, 1953 — January 27, 2022 Brenda Kaye Kelly, born July 24, 1953, passed away on January 27, 2022. She was 68 years old. Brenda is preceded in death by parents Arthur James Kelly Sr. and Myrtle Pauline (Blake) Kelly; brothers Michael Thomas Kelly and Patrick Lee Kelly; sister Suzanne (Kelly) Collins; aunt Faye Woodson; and parents-in-law James Mericle and Lottie Mericle. She is survived by sons Thomas Wesley Gray of Atlanta TX and Bradley James Gray and wife Angie of Atlanta, TX; daughters Jennifer Lynn Thomas and husband Joseph of Queen City TX, and Carrie Kristine Mericle of Queen City TX; brother Arthur James “Sonny” Kelly Jr., and wife, Sheila of Cold Springs TX; sisters Glenda Faye (Kelly) Butterfras and husband Don of La Grange TX, and Suzette (Kelly) Krause Reyes and husband Alex Reyes of Conroe TX; grandchildren Isaac Thomas, Kerian Thomas, Rowan Thomas, Emma Jolly, Ayden Griffin, Kaylin Griffin, Matthew Griffin, Lucas Griffin, Jessa Mericle, Hailey Carpenter, Dyllon Carpenter, Daniel Carpenter, Kelsey Allgor, Trenton Davidson, and Gibson Gray; great-grandchildren Riverlee Hendricks, Rayland Williams, Jaylee Carpenter, and soon to be born, Waylon Simpson; nieces Stephanie Kelly Tompkins, Crystal Manshack, and Brandy Nesbit; nephews Matt Collins, Dustin Krause, Terry Hunsucker, and Randy Hunsucker; and friends Steve Mericle and the “Mericle Clan”, Lydia Hendricks, Debbie Clark, Nelda Culver, Janice Parks, Vicky Cunningham, and her Ya-Ya Sisterhood friends. She had many fond memories and friends from her time working at KPYN Radio Station, Horne Enterprises, Inc. She finally retired from the State of Texas Health and Human Services Division. She loved to shop, cook, nap, puzzling, reading and craft. She filled her spare time with going to the beach. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was a devout Christian and a shining example of Jesus’s teachings. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Queen City Funeral Home beginning at 3:00pm.
