William Claude Stone passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at his home in New Boston, Texas. He was 78. William was born April 7, 1943 in Preston, Arkansas to Junius Bragg and Ruby Lee Garrett Stone. He was retired from the contracting division of Red River Army Depot. William was a member of New Boston Lions Club and was a member and president of the Red River Army Depot Rod and Gun Club. William was also a member of Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, J. B. Stone, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Mary Stone; one brother-in-law, Mike Russell; and one nephew, Chip Stone. He is survived by his wife Ann Stone of New Boston, Texas; three sons, Ronnie Scudder of New Boston, Texas, Bill (Janet) Stone of Raeford, North Carolina, and John (Anna) Stone of Winnsboro, Texas; three daughters, Lori (Alex) Rodriquez of Mare Island, California, Melani (Shawn) Shelton of Malta, Texas, and Heather Russell of New Boston, Texas; one sister, Vertie Arney of Lubbock, Texas; one sister-in-law, Kathy Mathews of Simms, Texas; ten grandchildren, Caitlyn (Phillip) Litzler, Kendall Scudder, Cedar Stone, Poppy Stone, Bailey Taylor, J.D. (Rebecca) Spears, Maggie Taylor, Jack Abston, Newt Taylor, and Lydia Wilson; one great grandson, Liam Litzler; nephews, Whitt Arney, Shawn Arney, Trey Stone, Luke Mathews, Tripp Mathews, Rhett Tucker, and Tex Tucker; nieces, Kourtney (Clint) Tucker, Kennedy Tucker, and Piper Tucker; and a special caregiver, Shannon Carroll and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston, Texas with Rev. David Goodwin, Rev. Tommy Earl Burton, and Tim Graham officiating. Interment will follow at New Boston Cemetery under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Friday, February 11, 2022 at Tapp United Methodist Church in New Boston, Texas. Memorials may be made to Tapp United Methodist Church Building Fund, 715 S. McCoy Blvd., New Boston, TX 75570.
