Bobby Coy McDowell, Sr. age 88, of Texarkana, Arkansas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at his home. Mr. McDowell was born September 2, 1933, in Ogden, Arkansas. He retired from Union Pacific Railroad and was a member of Shiloh Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Bobby was a veteran of the Korean War and served his country in the United States Army and the Marine Corps. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. Bobby enjoyed spending time on the lake crappie fishing and sharing his catch with family and neighbors. The best part about Bobby’s fishing trip was the great fish fry and the fellowship. He loved growing a garden each year and selling and giving his produce away to friends and family members. He also sold his vegetables at the local farmers’ market. He was known for the best tomatoes in Texarkana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie and Ruby McDowell, and one brother Ralph McDowell. He is survived by his wife, of sixty-seven years, Margie McDowell of Texarkana, Arkansas; one son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Bobbie McDowell of Texarkana, Arkansas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Burl Fant of Texarkana, Texas; one brother, Coke McDowell of Texarkana, Texas; one sister, Charlotte Neaves of Ogden, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Brandon McDowell and his wife, Kaitlyn, Sara Dauzat, Randall Fant and his wife, Taylor, and Ryan Fant; seven great-grandchildren Banks McDowell, Briggs McDowell, Brooks McDowell, Elijah Shelton, Bentley Dauzat, Teagan Fant Rowan Fant, and a host of friends and other relatives. The family would like to give a special thanks to Jackie Brady and Enhabit Hospice for the love and care they gave to Bobby during his illness. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 A. M. Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at Texarkana Funeral Home, Arkansas, with Rev. Wallace Edgar and Rev. Todd Reed officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday, July 3rd, from 2:00 to 4:00 P. M. Memorials may be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 9143 US-82, Texarkana, Arkansas 71854.
