MARIA ELDER

Maria Martina Elder was known to most people by her nickname “Cricket”. She was born January 30, 1961 in Texarkana, AR to Mr. Jack and Ms. Mary Lewis. She departed this life on February 20, 2022. Maria was raised in the Sandflat Neighborhood of Texarkana, AR with four siblings. After marriage in 1990, she relocated to College Station, TX and then to Edgewood, MD. Maria was preceded in death by her mother, father, and mother-in-law, Malissia Elder, her two older siblings Donna Pitts and Jack Lewis and her brother-in-law, James Elder. Maria is survived by her husband of 32 years, William Elder of Edgewood, MD, Daughter: Kakisha (Lakeria) Adams of Hampton, VA, Son: Jordan Elder of Edgewood, MD., Two Brothers: Michael (Marshanna) Lewis of Texarkana, TX. and Robert (Wanda) Lewis of Texarkana, AR., Two Sisters-In-Law: Patricia Wilson and Janet Elder and Brother-In-Law: John (Zelda) Elder, two Grandchildren: Jayden and Jayla. “Cricket” was a beloved Auntie to Anika, Mark, Lashun, Jackye, Allandria, Kenyon, Brandon, Shaunderrick, Jessie, Tanya, Danyetta, Shamina, their families and countlesss others that may not have even been related by blood or marriage. She touched so many lives and spread love to so many people that they BECAME Family! Visitation is Thursday, March 3, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Jones Stuart Mortuary 115 East 9th St. Texarkana, AR. Service is Friday, March 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Mt. Grove Baptist Church 2801 Arkansas Blvd. Texarkana, AR. with Rev. Marvin Warren, Eulogist. Burial at Chapelwood Memorial Gardens 826 N. Kings Hwy. Wake Village, TX. under direction of Jones Stuart Mortuary. MASKS AND SOCIAL DISTANCING ARE REQUIRED!
