MARY THOMAS

Mary Helen “Sister” (Greene) Thomas, age 87, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on May 5, 2022. Mrs. Thomas was born on February 10, 1935. A long-time resident of Texarkana, Mary was married to Charles “Sweet Man” Thomas for 58 years until his death in 2011. Mary “Sister” is what she was called by relatives and friends, was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Queen City, TX. She loved the Lord, and would go out of her way to pick up her grandchildren to make sure they went to church. Mary was an avid Bingo player, and also loved to visit the casinos with her daughter. She always seemed younger than her years, had a genuine personality, possessed a sharp mind and a beautiful smile. She would light up a room, making everyone laugh. Family was everything to her, and we will miss her dearly. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lodiwick (LW/Cootsie) and Marjorie (Scrap) Johnson Greene; beloved husband Charles Lindbergh “Sweet Man” Thomas, and son Gregory L. Thomas Sr. Survivors include 3 daughters, Connie Jackson, and Tawan Thomas of Texarkana, TX, Renee Wilson of Lancaster, CA, 1 son, Darryl (Peggy) Thomas of Texarkana, TX; sisters, Mattie Hobbs-Henderson, Jeanette Pinkard, Catherine Martin, Juanita Lewis, and Thyra Jones; 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Visitation will be at: Queen City Funeral Home, on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m and at Bethel United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 14, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. -10:00 a.m. Services will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church, Queen City, Texas, on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be directly following services at Mount Zion Cemetery, Queen City, Texas.
