Doris Lucille Mitchell

Doris Lucille Mitchell of De Kalb, Texas passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 89. Doris was born May 27, 1933 in the Old Salem Community of New Boston, Texas to Virgil Alvin and Fannie Pleasant McCright Hanna. She was a homemaker and a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. Doris enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and watching sports. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Hester “Sonny Boy” Mitchell; two sisters, Louise Mitchell and Pauline McIntee; two brothers, Earl Hanna and Adrian Hanna; one son, Terry Don Mitchell; and one great granddaughter, Mia Hook. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry and Kathy Mitchell of De Kalb, Texas, Gary Mitchell of New Boston, Texas, and Perry Mitchell of De Kalb, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Jerry Stewart of Ft. Worth, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Tammie Mitchell of Avery, Texas; a dear friend, Neala Lewis of De Kalb, Texas; one brother, Harold Hanna of New Boston, Texas; fourteen grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Bro. Justin Coburn officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
