Richard Allen Hampton

Richard Allen Hampton, 70, of Texarkana, Arkansas, died on October 29, 2022, after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. Richard (Rick) is the son of Rose and Bill Hampton. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1970. He served in the United States Air Force as SR First Class E4 in Mobile Communications from 1971-1973, touring Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Arkansas-Monticello with a teaching degree. He later received his Masters and served in several administrative positions in the public education system. Richard retired from public education to pursue his passion of raising and training horses on his ranch in Texarkana, Arkansas. Richard was a professional horse trainer and riding instructor with the American Painted Horse Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He found great purpose competing in National Reining Horse Competitions throughout the United States and sharing in the successes, joys, and challenges with this community of friends. Richard is preceded in death by both of his parents, Rose and Bill, and his sister, Billie June Handley of Monticello, Arkansas. He is survived by his loving wife, Lee Ann, sons Allen (Bridgett) Hampton of Stamps, Arkansas; Mitch Hampton of Ahoskie, North Carolina; Todd (Brooke) Marshall of Texarkana, Texas; Trent Marshall of Temple, Texas; daughters Beth (Rebecca Chiles) Scroggins of Monmouth, Oregon; Emilee (James) Kitchens of Texarkana, Texas; and one brother, Mike (Becky) Hampton of Brandon, Mississippi. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Richard’s generous nature of helping others was a blessing to many. His patience and kindness were resolute and admirable. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 on Sunday, November 13, 2022, at Silver Lake Arena in Texarkana, Texas.
