ANTHONY LAMAR SMITH

Anthony Lamar Smith was born December 28, 1963, in Texarkana, Texas to Shirley Jean Smith. Anthony was a graduate of Texas Senior High School. After graduating, he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice Administration and work toward his Master’s degree. Anthony joined the United States Army National Guard in 1987 and served 25 years. He received an Honorable Discharge from active duty serving as a E07 Sergeant, a chemical op, training office, and convoy commander. Anthony was ordered to active duty in Kuwait/Iraq for the purpose of post service in designated imminent danger areas. He completed his first full term in Iraq and received an Overseas Service Ribbon and an Armed Forces Reserve Medal. Anthony was employed with the Arkansas Department of Community Service for 27 years and received an award and recognition for more than 20 years of service. Anthony answered the call from our Heavenly Father and departed this life on October 31, 2022. He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving and devoted wife, Rita G. Smith of Texarkana, TX; son, Rodney Lindley of Texarkana, TX; sister, Tammy Dorsey (Anthony); brothers, Norris B. Smith of Dallas, TX and Torin Smith of Texarkana, TX; special cousin, Steve Smith of Atlanta, TX; childhood friends, Byron Golston of Dallas, TX and Emory Dobor of Texarkana, TX; two special nieces, Kayla Brooks and Afton Dorsey Smith of Royse City, TX; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation for Mr. Smith will be 2:30 to 4:30 Friday, November 4 at Haynes Mortuary. Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, November 5 at Mt. Orange Baptist Church.
