The Angels of the Lord peacefully descended upon this earth and escorted Marie Gaither Thomas to Glory, early Sunday morning, November 6, 2022. Marie was born in the Shiloh community of Atlanta, Texas on April 18, 1931, to the union of Winnie Mae Stiger Gaither and Eddie Lee Gaither. Marie accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and was baptized at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She loved God and her family, and she also loved Shiloh M. B. C. where she was a member for over 80 years. She served as adult Sunday school teacher and secretary, member of the mission circle, choir director, and pianist. After graduating from Booker T. Washington High School, Atlanta, Texas, she attended Prairie View A&M University. She later graduated from Texarkana College with an associate degree in education. She was a substitute teacher and teacher’s aide for Queen City I. S. D. She also worked for Day and Zimmerman Lone Star, Texarkana, Texas. She leaves to cherish her memories: Son, Marshall Gaither; grandson, Jeyri Webster (Katina), Mark Knight (Rosalind) and Rocky Lloyd (Temora), granddaughter, LaTonya Gaither; 10 great grandchildren, including Keyeria Gregory (John) and 4 great-great grandchildren, Brother: Elbert Eugene Gaither, Sr. (Dorothy); Sisters, Mable Doris Hodge (James), Deborah Louise Rhoads; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service for Marie Gaither Thomas is 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 106 CR 1111, Atlanta, Texas; Viewing 11:00 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.. Pastor Arlista Maxie, officiating. Interment: Pine Crest Cemetery, Atlanta, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to: Linden Funeral Home, Linden, Texas.
