Born February 14, 1927, Frances Jane Burnett finished her long and noble life-course of 95 years on Thursday, November 14, 2022. She spent her life involved in faithful devotion to her husband, her family, her church, her employer and her community where she was always highly respected. Ms. Burnett was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer “Snowy” Burnett by more than 40 years, ending their marriage of almost three decades. She never remarried. She leaves behind her four beloved children: Judy (daughter) and her husband Ron Upshaw; and Larry (son) and his wife Donna. She also had 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, all of whose lives she carefully kept up with until the very end of her own. Ms. Burnett retired from Safeway Corporation as a valued employee after more than 20 years of service. She volunteered at Wadley Hospital in the early part of her retirement years. And, across her adult lifetime, she faithfully attended and supported her two churches: first, Lakeside Baptist Church and later Highland Hills Baptist Church. And, when age and disability precluded her actual attendance, she continued to support her church financially finding great comfort from scripture and her visiting ministers and fast friends Laura Smith and Ann Faulks. Ms. Burnett was loved and beautifully supported by her family and the truly caring staffs at both Bailey Creek Health and Rehab and Encompass (Enhabit) Hospice Care through the last years of her life. And now, with the Apostle, Paul, she can joyfully declare, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2022 at East Funeral Home-Downtown. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at East Funeral Home prior to the funeral service.
