Amanda Nicole Garton Butler

Amanda Nicole Garton Butler of Hooks, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2022. She was 42. Amanda was born July 14, 1980 in Texarkana, Texas to Harold Lynn Garton and Cynthia Ann Wilson. She was a 1998 graduate of James Bowie High School. Amanda was employed as an Eligibility Specialist at Texarkana Care Clinic. Before that, she had been in the childcare profession for over 20 years including being a Child Care Director. Amanda was on the board of the Homeless Coalition, and a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 2085. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Tylar Taylor; her father, Harold Garton; her stepfather, Mack Basham; her brother-in-law, Raymond Hanna; her aunt, Millie Sands; and a nephew, Jamie Groff. She is survived by her children, Nicholas Taylor, Mackenzie Butler, and Logan Butler, all of Hooks, Texas; her mother and stepfather, Cindy Basham and Tommy Stevens of San Antonio, Texas; her sister, Susan Hanna of De Kalb, Texas; six brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ricky and Lena Garton of De Kalb, Texas, D.R. Garton of De Kalb, Texas, Tony Garton of New Boston, Texas, Kevin and Susan Garton of Howard, Ohio, Mikey and Brooke Garton of Lexington, Kentucky, and Waylon Garton of El Dorado, Arkansas; her special friend, J.D. Shumake of Louisiana; and numerous other relatives and friends. Services will be 3:00 P.M. Friday, September 2, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 1, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
