ARGIE FONDREN

Mrs. Argie Nell Fondren, 74, of Ashdown, AR died Wednesday, May 14, 2022 at Little River Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Fondren was born May 5, 1948 in Batesville, Mississippi to the late Cedell and Daisy Fondren. Over the years she worked various part-time and full-time jobs which included Spotlight, McDonalds, Tyson Foods and retiring from Beard Poulan (Nashville, AR) after 32 years of employment. She was a member of Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashdown, for over 20 years while active on the Usher Board, BTU Superintendent and Missionary Department. Later she united with Craig Chapel AME Church, Ashdown, AR where she remained active on the Usher Board, Sunday school teacher, Young People & Missionary Department, and chairperson for different church programs. Mrs. Fondren, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Ruth Chapter # 3, Ashdown, AR held several positions during her term. Her hobbies included sewing, crafting, cooking and playing piano. As founder and president of “Remembrance of 911 Committee”, this organization was able to establish a monument that’s located in Ashdown City Jailhouse. Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Clendell Fondren and one sister Ethel Ware. Survivors includes one son, Anthony (Lisy) Fondren, Dequeen, AR; Daughter, Rosetta Fondren, Ashdown, AR; two brothers, Carl (Lena) Fondren, and Calvin Fondren, all of Ashdown; two sisters, Maxine Williams, Ashdown, AR and Lessie Webb Batesville, MS; special daughter, Senda (Gregory) Crussell, Foreman, AR; special friends, Lillie Gulley, Ashdown, AR and Patricia Stewart, Tollett, AR; seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Visitation hours will be 5:00-7:00-Thursday, at Lyles Funeral Home, Inc. Homegoing Celebration services will be 11:00 AM, Friday at Lyles Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 3809 E. Broad, Texarkana, AR. Words of comfort by Supt. Rufus Robinson and Pastor Anthony Nelson serving as Officiant and Eulogist. Interment to follow in Rhodes Cemetery, Ashdown, AR. under direction of Lyles Funeral Home, Inc.
