Robbye Marie Magee, age 79, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, in Texarkana, Texas. She was born on August 13, 1943, to Robert Lee and Evelyn Marie Thompson in New Orleans, Louisiana. Robbye is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Eva Carolyn Thompson Serio. Robbye is survived by her children, Jen Marie Brown, James Michael Brown, Joe Allen Magee, Jr., and John Landon Magee; a son-in-law, Bruce Brown; a daughter-in-law, Racheal Conrey Magee; eight grandchildren, Grey Magee, Rebeccah Magee, Carolyn Magee, Jacob Magee, Landon Magee, Madison Magee, Reagan Magee, and Declan Magee; her brothers, James Wright Ros, Phillip Edwin Ros, and Lang Ros Fleming; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Robbye founded the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties in 1988 and served as the executive director from 1988 until 2013. She held a master’s degree in psychology and earned the distinguished Alumni award at Texas A & M University in 2001, and was a Thousand Point of Light recipient in 1992. Memorial services will be held at noon on February 4, 2023 at First United Methodist Church, Arkansas. A gathering of friends and relatives will be held in the Church parlor following services. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Parker, Koy Mudra Taylor, Mike Ingram, Stephen Bolls, Steve Harrelson, Jody Benson, William Miller, and Sonya Jewell. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to First United Methodist Church.
