WALTER REED

Walter Neal Reed, age 78, of Texarkana passed away on Monday, January 16, 2023. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Reed, and his brother, Dale Reed. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Reed; his daughter, April Kriz and her husband, John; son, Alan Reed, and his wife, Ashley; son, Leland Reed, and his wife, Jennifer; brother, Robert Reed; and 8 grandchildren. Walter was born on November 30, 1944 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. In high school, he enjoyed playing football and on August 28, 1965, while a student at North Carolina State University, he married his high school sweetheart, Evelyn Swilling. They were married for 57 years. Walter began working summers at International Paper Company while still attending college and began full time employment upon graduating. Work took him to many residences, including Pine Bluff, AR, Mobile, AL, Trumbull, CT, and Texarkana, TX. He gained many friends along the way. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, playing golf, and serving, worshipping, and fellowshipping with his church family. God was always important to him and he strove to exemplify God in his life. Family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, January 23, 2023, at East Funeral Home-Moores Lane in Texarkana, TX. Funeral service will be graveside at 2pm Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6707 Dollarway Road, Pine Bluff, AR.
