On January 28, 2023, Harry Thomas “Butch” Greenwood departed this life into Glory at Texarkana, Texas at the age of 83. Mr. Greenwood was born April 18, 1939 in Syracuse, New York to Robert Nelson Greenwood and Ruth Kemp Greenwood. Both parents preceded him in death as did his older brother, Robert Charles Greenwood. Mr. Greenwood served in the US Army for 3 years and 3 months and was employed at Red River Army Depot for 30 years. He retired as Chief, Ammunition Missile Maintenance Division. After retirement, his passion was gardening where he grew tomatoes in quantity to give to anyone, always for free. Mr. Greenwood was a member of First Baptist Church, Hooks, Texas since April 11, 1993. Mr. Greenwood is survived by his wife of 61 years, Selvia Maxwell Greenwood of Hooks, Texas; his son, Thomas Nelson “Tommy” Greenwood and his wife, Debbie of Simms, Texas; two daughters, Constance Kay “Connie” Hickman and her husband, Rusty of Hooks, Texas and Angela Joy “Angie” Jobrey of Hooks, Texas. His grandchildren are Robert Brandon Greenwood and wife Ashley of New Boston, Texas, Kelsi Ann Usrey and her husband, Brett of Redwater, Texas, Warren Blake Young and wife, Melissa of Fort Worth, Texas, Kaylee Alayne Kugler and her husband, Alex of Nash, Texas, and Connor David Price of Hooks, Texas. His precious great grandchildren are Tye Carter Greenwood and Zoey Kate Greenwood of New Boston, Texas, Emma Grace and Grayson Alan Rutledge and Reid Scott and Nolan Robert Usrey of Redwater, Texas. His extended family includes Jamie Hawthorne and husband, Bryan and their children, Connor, Kace, Keaton, and Koen and Cory Hickman and wife, Corey and their children, Ava and Dawson and Blake Hickman. He is survived by his brother, Richard Kenneth Greenwood and wife Mary of East Syracuse, New York and two sisters, Lorraine Jane Lumia and Robert Chamberlin of Canastota, New York and Carolynn Ann Buck and husband, Williams of Tully New York. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Roy Ford and Rev. Grant Sutton officiating. Interment will follow at Sand Hill Cemetery in Simms, Texas. Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
