MATTHEW SCHNEIDER

Matthew Rudolph Schneider, age 62, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away on March 20, 2023 at his home. Matt was born on November 7, 1960 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Rudolph John Schneider, Jr. and Dorothy Peterson Schneider. Matt was an amazing swim coach. He was the coach at Texarkana Independent School District for 13 years and the Assistant Swim Coach at Henderson State University for 5 years. He had a genuine care for his students and athletes which was so apparent when you saw him on the pool deck. During his time as a coach, Matt named 62 athletes for All-State in Texas. He did this 182 times in 24 events. He named 37 athletes as Academic All-Americans, 56 athletes for Consideration All-American, and named 11 athletes for 1st Team All-American 15 times in 8 events. His teams won 131 District events, they set 74 District records, won 27 Regional events and set 14 Regional records, won 12 State events, and set 2 state records. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Murray and husband, Blake of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his son, Peter Schneider of Houston, Texas; brother, Mark Schneider of Centennial, Colorado; and his grandchildren, Asher and Noah Murray. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas Blvd officiated by Rev. Matt Graves. Cremation arrangements are under the care of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texas.
